My family, especially my wife, really like chewable, nugget-like ice. My wife was introduced to it at the hospital when she was there to deliver our first child. Since that time, we like going to restaurants and other places that serve this type of ice with their drinks. When I had the opportunity to test out the new VFIoo2 Ice Maker by Vibofrost, I was excited to try it out and also get my family’s opinion on it.
What Is the Vibofrost VFI002 Ice Maker?
The Vibofrost VFI002 Ice Maker comes with the following:

- 1 Magnetic hook

- 1 Quick start guide
Using the VFI002 is very easy. Just follow the quick start guide which explains how to clean and prepare the ice maker for its first use. It is important to let it sit upright for a couple hours to ensure that the coolant settles at the bottom to is works correctly. Once the ice maker is clean, connect the hose at the back of the ice maker to the seat for the water tank. Then fill up the tank and lower the tank into the seat. The water will begin to fill the internal water tank. After that, plug in the ice maker to a outlet and then press the power button on the control panel and then the ice making light will illuminate. Within 6 minutes, you will begin to have ice dropping down into the storage tray.
Cleaning the VFI002 is also easy. Every 2-3 weeks, it is a good idea to go through the cleaning cycle. All you need is some white vinegar and warm water to help remove scale mineral deposits. The entire process takes about 3 hours which includes a 30 minute self-rinse with the vinegar, a 2-hour soak, and a 30 minute flush with fresh water to remove particles. This is much faster than some counter-top ice makers which can take up to 18 hours to clean!

Why You Should Get the Vibofrost VFI002 Ice Maker
Making ice is not a science and should be easy. The VFI002 ice maker could not be much easier to use. There are only two buttons–power and clean. No need to adjust settings. I also like that it includes a metal ice scoop complete with a magnetic hook. You can attach the hook on the front of side of the ice maker–wherever you want–so it is always ready to scoop some ice for you.
When I have used other counter-top ice makers, it seems like I am constantly refilling them with water. With its external water tank, the VFI002 can make lots of ice without stopping. My family was impressed with the the quality of the ice. It is soft enough to chew. Plus, the thick insulation around the ice tray helps keep it cold so it does not melt quickly and then refreeze together. Another problem with some ice makers is draining all of the liquid out of them for when you will not be using them. The VFI002 has two drain hoses that connect to the bottom of the rear of the machine. When not in use, just fold them up and clip them along the back of the ice maker. For draining, place the ends of the hoses into a sink and let it drain without having to put the machine in the sink.
This is the second product by Vibofrost that I have used. A few months ago I tried out their VFS001 slushie machine and was very impressed. My family uses it frequently and it is always a hit when we have family or friends over. Now I can say I am equally pleased with their ice maker as well. We think it is the easiest to chew of the variety of nugget ice we have tried and we put it in all of our cold drinks from water to soda. If you are looking for a counter-top ice maker that makes chewable ice, then I highly recommend the VFI002. After two great products, I can’t wait to see what Vibofrost come out with next.
