Sometimes I don’t have time to make a huge list, but that doesn’t mean that the books featured here are to be missed!
Let’s start with early readers:
The Christmas Sweater by Jan Brett (Author)
This is such a brilliant addition to Jan Brett’s library. Yiayia has just made a Christmas sweater for her grandson’s dog, Ariadne. It has all kinds of golden additions that chime and shine, but the doggy doesn’t seem that thrilled with it!
Her grandson Theo loves it too and decides to take Ari on a hike to Echo Lake, using his new snowshoes. Jan Brett does a wonderful job of using small windows to tell the past, present of the tale and what might happen, making anticipatory details a delight to scroll and ponder.
All the magpies and birds snatching away the golden ornaments are a delight to see, as is the thread of red yarn that seems to follow the adventurers through the snow.
When they are about to reach the lake, it starts snowing, covering their tracks. Theo realizes Ari’s sweater has disappeared, along with every familiar landmark.
Ariadne is the name of a famous Greek woman who once helped Theseus find his way out of the Minotaur’s labyrinth. Maybe the Xmas sweater will act as a guide home, with a lovely twist at the end of the tale.
The Christmas Sweater will be available in November 25, 2025.

Up next, a funny book:
Don’t Trust Fish by Neil Sharpson (Author), Dan Santat (Illustrated by)
This book has a lot going on, and I would argue it’s good for any age.
Why? Because we must NEVER trust fish.
The descriptions and depiction of fish in different situations are both fun and caricaturesque.
The attempt to categorize them as mysterious, mischievous, and perhaps conspirators against humans becomes increasingly bizarre and candid: fish can’t be trusted because they live where we can see them – in water!
Do fish have schools? Why? What are they learning? Some are as big as a bus, or pretty ugly, and delve into the deep; some are just there, eyes open wide… none of it is okay! Not even one fish is trustworthy!
I find it hilarious and clever because they tackle our own human paranoia with humor.
Don’t Trust Fish is on sale since April 08, 2025.

Up next, a beautiful non-fiction book:
Forests by Nell Cross Beckerman (Author), Kalen Chock (Illustrated by)
The beauty of the forest cannot be overstated, and the different types of forests that are still left are a miracle. We must preserve them. In the forest, we come back to our foraging ancestors, our brain and body come alive, there is everything to be surprised by: smells, sights, tastes…
The book describes types of forests in a poetic tone, from kelp forests on the ocean floor to Asian bamboo forests, to the wonders of the Amazon. Beckerman describes three ecosystems in detail and provides supplementary text that describes different types of forests worldwide.
Forests is on sale since November 04, 2025.

Finally, a personal dream come true:
Donde comen cuatro, ¡comemos todos! (Where four can eat, everybody can!) by Written by: Maisa Sandoval Cordero. Illustrated by: María V. Fernández Buezo & Maisa Sandoval Cordero. Natalia Carrasco (Translated by)
I’ve often said I wanted to showcase Bolivian books and lamented the lack of translations. No more! Travesia Press has finally launched a host of bilingual titles written and illustrated by Latin-American authors. I also said I would personally congratulate the first author to be translated, as ours is such a small country, and I did!
Maisa Cordero wrote this book about a small chicken birthday party in 2021. Two young chickens want to celebrate their birthday, but it seems that there is not enough food in the house. However, the happy “we will make space for everybody” attitude from mommy proves to be the right answer.
As the little chickens happily invite their friends, each one of them brings something to the table, and the result is a true fiesta, and a reminder of how much a community is larger than the sum of its parts.
Donde comen cuatro, ¡comemos todos! is on sale since October, 2025.
